Aleksandar Metodijev

Aleksandar Metodijev is a journalist based both in the German city of Bonn and the Macedonian capital of Skopje.

Metodijev studied journalism at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje, and took part in trainings in Athens, Luxembourg, Skopje, and Bonn. He is also a certified 3D animator, video producer, and editor, as well as a certified social media manager. He worked at three Macedonian TV stations and is a former Deutsche Welle journalist, editor, and radio and TV moderator. Metodijev was also a workshop instructor about digital storytelling, making interviews, recording, and video editing in Tirana. He was part of an international jury in Warsaw, which in January 2009 awarded the best photo reflecting the position of women in South and Eastern Europe, organized by the Polish organization “KARAT Coalition” and founded by the European Commission.

Aleksandar Metodijev won the first prize in the competition for the best essay about the EU in 2003, organized by the European Movement and the Delegation of the European Commission in Skopje. He took part in the EU competition "ByeByeRoaming" and his photo was selected for the exhibition in the European Parliament in 2017.

In his career, he covered issues regarding foreign policy, the economy, human rights, and the environment. In 2023, he worked on a project about fake news, artificial intelligence, and the misuse of identities in fake interviews for commercial purposes. The project was supported by the Institute of Communication Studies and the British Embassy in Skopje.
