Giacomo Zandonini is a Rome-based freelance journalist.

Giacomo is covering mobility, human trafficking, European policies and conflicts in the Sahel and West Africa. He is a contributor to La Repubblica, Internazionale, L'Espresso, Mediapart, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, The New Humanitarian, Paris Match, Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime, Privacy International, Open Society Foundations.

His work has been supported through the IJ4EU cross-border grant (Invisible border, 2018), Journalism Fund 'Money trail' grant (2019), Otto Brenner Foundation. Giacomo was awarded the Media Migration Award (2017) and obtained a special mention at the True Story Award (2019).
