Samindra Kunti

A football journalist from Leuven, Belgium, Sam graduated from law school at KU Leuven University and in journalism from Columbia University in NYC.

He writes for World Soccer, The Blizzard, Forbes, Ekstra Bladet, and Josimar, and contributes to BBC Sport Africa and BBC Persian. Sam has covered numerous international tournaments and events, including World Cups, European Championships, Olympic Games, and FIFA Congresses. A core member of Josimar’s Qatar investigations, his work details how the kafala system has remained alive and kicking in the Gulf Nation. FIFA is not a fan of his reporting.

In Zurich some claim that Sam hates Gianni Infantino personally. As a kid, the grainy images of Brazil’s World Cup win in Mexico enchanted Sam. He is the author of Brazil 1970: How the Greatest Team of All Time Won the World Cup (2022). The book explores the sporting merits and historical backdrop of that victory. In the United Kingdom, it got shortlisted for Football Book of the Year.
